Believe it or not, beyond the installing, moving up, blending, maintaining, and everything thing else: there’s even an art to ordering extensions too.

Think of it this way

You’re balancing inventory and cost from a business perspective, while ensuring the quality, color, and amount of hair align with your client’s goals and expectations. Then there’s the craft itself. The part that’s guided by feel, heart, talent, or passion – where your creativity takes shape through the right tools and mediums.

Knowing how to layer tones. How much to trim. Where to add just a little more for that final touch. Or even knowing when it's too much.

Extensions should feel intentional, natural, and authentic, while above all always prioritizing the health of the hair underneath. Of course, it's not just about adding length or chasing volume for the sake of it. (With $11 and an Amazon Prime account, anyone can get extensions that technically add length and volume).

Your artistry is all about understanding the million other little nuances, and how they work together: density, movement, texture, environment, goals, the day-to-day lifestyle of the person wearing them – the list goes on.

Extensions should feel intentional, natural, and authentic while, above all, always prioritizing the health of the hair underneath.

Balancing all of that and more, all while helping your clients achieve their dream hair, is truly its own kind of artistry. There’s a lot that goes into getting it right, but when you do, it shows in the results, in how effortless everything feels on install day, and how quickly/easily you're able to adapt to the unexpected.

The luxury truly is in the details.

Let's get started

Before getting into numbers, it’s important to consider your foundation. Every client has a different starting point: different hair history, natural density, desired result, and day-to-day routine. A solid consult should always be the first step. Ask questions. Understand how they wear their hair, how often they wash or style it, and how much maintenance they’re willing to commit to. These details shape everything.

At Inspire, all of our extensions come in 50g packs of premium hair. This gives you the flexibility to build custom installs with precision, more control of your inventory, and less waste.

Each 50g pack is available in a variety of options:
› Color: A total of 14 signature shades & blends
› Length: 16", 20", 24"
› Type: Genius Wefts, K-Tips

To order, select your desired color from the shop, then select the length and type. For quantity, this represents how many 50g packs you would like to order. Not quite sure? We've included some helpful tips below based on hair goals and real-life scenarios!

Note: When it comes to ordering, always plan with purpose. It’s always better to have an extra pack on hand than to come up short mid-install.

Just adding some fullness

› 1–2 packs (50–100g)

Perfect for clients who love their current length but want a little more body and movement. This works especially well for fine-haired clients who want to thicken up their natural look without changing the length.

A bit more length & density

› 2–3 packs (100–150g)

This is where things start to shift visually. You’re not just filling out, you’re building shape. Great for someone with medium-density hair who wants to add a few inches, some soft layers, or a longer silhouette that still feels effortless and believable.

Full length & transformation

› 3–4 packs (150–200g)

Ideal for clients ready to make a statement while still keeping a natural feel. You’re adding length, volume, and structure all at once. This is a common range for clients with shoulder-length hair looking to go long, or for thick hair that needs a little more balance. Wefts create that soft fall and shape, while K-Tips are perfect for refining face framing or filling out the hairline.

Adding major volume (or short → long)

› 4+ packs (200g or more)

This is your go-to for bold transformations. Whether it’s a blunt bob, dense natural hair, or someone asking for inches on inches, you’ll need enough hair to create the blend and give them the length without harsh lines. More packs mean more control. You’ll be able to layer and customize without compromising the structure or look.

Common scenarios & what to order

The wedding client who wants soft, romantic length
Go for 2–3 packs of Genius Wefts. Add a pack of K-Tips if you want extra shaping around the face or neck.

The loyal client going from bob to mermaid
Start with 4 packs, maybe 5 if you need to layer or shape more aggressively. Choose two shades for depth and dimension.

The subtle shift
Just 1–2 packs can change how a client feels in their hair. Focus on key areas where extra volume adds confidence.

The everyday ponytail wearer
Think about weight distribution and crown placement. Avoid adding bulk in areas that get pulled tight daily.

A quick note on color

The Core Collection was made to mix and layer. Each tone is soft, dimensional, and designed with blendability in mind. Most installs benefit from combining two complementary shades, which allows you to create natural highs and lows without lifting or over-processing.

By keeping a few go-to tones stocked, you’ll be ready for almost anyone who walks through the door. Whether it’s adding brightness, softening contrast, or creating a believable gradient, layered color makes all the difference.

Pro tips from our team

› Keep extra packs of your most-used shades in your backbar
› Use Genius Wefts when you want flexibility, softness, and movement
› Choose K-Tips for custom detailing or precision placement
› Save trimmed weft pieces for touch-ups, add-ins, or repairs
› Document what you used so future installs are easy to replicate

When in doubt, round up

It’s always better to have too much than not enough. Extra hair becomes future move-ups, repairs, or a little insurance for next time. Nothing is wasted when the work is well planned.
